INSTEC's TS102/TS102XY is a thermoelectric (Peltier) based stage that can provide cooling to -40°C without using liquid nitrogen. Thermoelectric heating and cooling simplifies the system setup, reduces operating costs, and makes TEC stages a convenient choice for performing long duration experiments at low temperatures. The TS102/TS102XY features convenient side loading of samples and accommodates standard 25mm x 75 mm microscope slides as well as Instec liquid crystal cell holders.
The TS102/TS102XY is a perfect choice for researchers needing both heating and cooling over a moderate temperature range.

TEC/ Frame Cooling
The standard TS102 comes with a C100W benchtop water circulator that enables sample cooling down to -30°C. By adding ice to the C100W reservoir, the minimum achievable temperature is -40°C, which can be maintained for a short duration until the ice melts. To maintain these lower temperatures for longer intervals, alternative water cooling options are available. The CW5000 is a recirculating chiller that uses a compact refrigeration system to cool and circulate water as low as 5°C, allowing the TS102 to maintain -40°C indefinetly.
Note: While operation below 0° is possible with the TS102, cooling for extended durations in ambient conditions will lead to condensation on the thermal area and sample. A gas-tight or vacuum-tight alternative is reccommended for such applications. | |

Mounting Adaptors
Mounting adaptors allow the TS102 to be easily mounted onto your optical instrument of choice. All TS102 models include side- mounted L-brackets and tapped holes on the base for easy mounting to any instruments. TS102 Spacer Kts
TS102 spacers kits increase the vertical chamber height above the thermal area to accomodate larger samples or XY positioning accessories. Note: Spacer kits also increase the minimum working distance specification by the same amount. For the TS102, the standard workiing distance is 5.6mm, and the chamber height with/without the inner lid is 2.5mm/4mm. | |

Transmission Aperture Some applications require larger transmission apertures than others- whether it be to see more of a sample, allow for more light transmission, or for compatibility with specialized instruments. However, larger transmission apertures also result in larger thermal gradients across the observation area, decreasing the temperature uniformity. Tune the TS102+ transmission aperture size to optimize the temperature uniformity while maximizing the transmission aperture size. | |
