HALL EFFECT MEASURMENT

  • INSTEC offers a range of products designed for Hall effect measurements and semiconductor characterization. The Hall effect is an electromagnetic phenomena that is very useful for measuring the electrical properties of semiconductor materials. By applying a magnetic field to a sample carrying a known excitation current, a force is applied to the moving charge carriers. The charge carriers are displaced, resulting in a potential difference (Hall voltage) between two opposite sides of the sample which can be measured. From this Hall voltage, and a few other measurable properties of the sample, important semiconductor characteristics can be determined such as carrier concentration, carrier mobility, and dopant type. Instec's -PMH series of non-magnetic Hall effect thermal stages and plates are uniquely suited for high-precision thermal characterization of semiconductor materials via the Hall effect method. Pair a -PMH thermal stage with our motorized H8200 Hall effect measurement system to execute fully automated characterization experiments.
