Instec, Inc. is seeking a technician to join its quality control/ production team. This role is critical to ensuring Instec’s design and manufacturing standards. The selected candidate will be responsible for performing testing and documentation of a wide range of scientific equipment. The Product Quality Assurance Technician will get hands-on experience with standard and custom Instec products, including but not limited to thermal stages, electrical probing systems, temperature controllers and more. This role will also require communication with customer to provide technical support and training, as well as providing feedback to our design and production teams.
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Minimum of 1-year of hands-on experience in an engineering/production environment
· Highschool/GED
· Proficiency in following testing procedures and attention to detail
· PWorking knowledge of basic hand tools (i.e. screwdirver, Dremmel/rotary tool, drill press, file, etc) with the ability to quickly learn new equipment
· Demonstrates a proactive, DIY mindset with the ability to independently troubleshoot issues and develop practical solutions
· Strong willingness to get hands-on
· Strong communication and organization skills
· Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, customer-friendly language
· Basic computer proficiency (e.g., data entry, spreadsheets, quality tracking systems)
PREFERRED SKILLS
· Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing/science/engineering field
· Familiarity with thermal systems, temperature control, or precision instrumentation
· Strong understanding of heat transfer principles and control systems
· Experience with PID controllers, cryogenic systems, or heating/cooling stages
· Knowledge of lab instrumentation or semiconductor equipment
· Hands-on system integration experience
· Machining experience
· Good memory and comfortability with multitasking
· Willingness to travel up to for customer visits or installation
· CRM or product lifecycle management (PLM) tools familiarity
WHAT YOU’LL DO AS AN INSTEC PRODUCT QUALITY ASSURANCE TECHNICIAN
· Hands on testing and quality control of Instec equipment by performing routine inspections and tests on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products
· Communicate with production team and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure compliance
· Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues
· Maintain inspection and testing records in accordance with company standards
· CUse precision measuring tools and equipment (e.g. calipers, temperature sensors, vacuum/pressure gauges)
· Edit and update technical documents such as user’s manuals and quality control procedures
· Communicate with customer for troubleshooting and technical support
· Setup Instec system at customer’s site when needed
· Perform operational testing of Instec equipment
· Learn new skills and responsibilities as an active member of a small team
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Office and light testing facility setting
· May require standing for extended periods and handling materials or equipment
· Frequent heavy lifting and hauling of packages up to 50 lbs. and team lifting packages up to 300 lbs.
· Occasional use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as nitrile gloves and safety goggles
